MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The 1978 Maplewood Arts Center is hosting the City Without Walls METRO 31 [Redux] show, a traveling showcase of small works from artists across the Metropolitan area, starting Aug. 19. This year’s show features 58 works by 48 artists chosen by jurors Margaret O’Reilly of the New Jersey State Museum, ARTNOIR co-founder Larry Ossei-Mensah and culture journalist Siddhartha Mitter.
cWOW’s annual Metro Show was created more than 30 years ago to celebrate the work of talented artists from the metropolitan region. The show will be exhibited at the 1978 Maplewood Arts Center from Aug. 19 to Sept. 16. Afterward, it will travel to Ramapo College of New Jersey Potter Library Galleries, then other sites through 2018.
Enjoy an opening reception for the show on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring the music of Peter Glynn, Ethan Wollman and Greg Pise, an up-and-coming jazz trio from the area. Food and refreshments will be served. The 1978 Maplewood Arts Center is located at 1978 Springfield Ave., Maplewood.
