Maplewood celebrates Olympic fencer Muhammad

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The township of Maplewood will be celebrating Ibtihaj Muhammad, who won a bronze medal in fencing at the Olympics in Rio, on Saturday, Sept. 10, with a motorcade along Springfield Avenue and a parade through Maplewood Village. The parade will end at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts, where Muhammad will sign autographs.

10:30am: The motorcade will leave the N.J. Fencing Alliance, 50-58 Burnett Ave. in Maplewood, at 10:30 a.m.; the motorcade will stop at the Hilton Branch of the Maplewood Library at 10:40 a.m. for a meet and greet, before departing again at 10:55 a.m. to proceed down Springfield Avenue to Prospect Street, to Tuscan Road, to Valley Street, to Baker Street; the motorcade will then stop at the Main Branch of the Maplewood Library on Baker Street at 11:10 a.m. for a meet and greet; from there, the parade will kick off and head through Maplewood Village beginning at 11:30 a.m.; finally, the parade will end at the Burgdorff Center at noon for a meet and greet with Muhammad.
