MAPLEWOOD/SOUTH ORANGE — The ballots have been finalized for the Nov. 5 elections for Maplewood Township Committee and South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education.
The Essex County Clerk’s Office confirmed to the News-Record on Aug. 1 that four candidates will run for two open seats in the Maplewood Township Committee election. Democrat incumbents Mayor Vic DeLuca and India Larrier will be joined in the race by Republican Angel Perez and Independent Kurt Kiley. The winners of the election will each serve three-year terms.
DeLuca is running for his sixth, three-year term on the committee and Larrier for her second, three-year term. Kiley ran for a seat on the Maplewood Township Committee last year.
The board of education election will see six candidates run for three seats left vacant by departing members First Vice President Sandra Karriem, Second Vice President Bill Gaudelli and Andrea Wren-Hardin. Donna Smith of South Orange, Elissa Malespina of South Orange, Maureen Jones of Maplewood, Elizabeth Baker of Maplewood, Godwin Molokwu of Maplewood and Anthony Mazzocchi of Maplewood will all be vying for the open three-year positions.
